FUNDAMENTALS

The fundamentals of basketball are the MOST important thing to master because they will make you and your team better no matter what age level or team you play for. We will teach all fundamentals but will emphasize on the fundamentals that go unnotice such as; shot fakes, ball fakes, proper close out techniques, firm screens, moving without the ball, properly boxing out and more…

SHOOTING

Shooting is the most important skill in basketball. There are two steps to developing a great shooter. First, the player must learn how to shoot with correct form. Second, the player must dedicate A LOT of time to working on their shot using the correct shooting form.

Basketball Dribble
BALL HANDLING

One of the most important basketball fundamentals for all young players to learn and improve is their Dribbling ability is another important skill to learn and master. Dribbling allows a player in possession of the basketball to move around the basketball court without getting whistled for a traveling violation.

DEFENSE

The key goal of being a good on-ball defender: Stay between your opponent and the basket. Easily said than done. Players taught and will learn the most effective way to defend a quick guard on the perimeter, and they will be taught and learn how to defend an opponent in the post.

FEETWORK

Correct footwork is the foundation every player must build their game on. It’s an important factor in every skill. For shooting, footwork is important so players can use either a 1-2 step or a hop depending on what the situation calls for. For defending, players must use correct footwork to stay in front of their opponent and prevent them from attacking the hoop. Understanding how to perform a legal jump stop, stride stop, pivot, jab step, triple threat, drop step, etc, will prevent young players from committing traveling violations which all result in a turnover.

IQ OF BASKETBALL

Basketball IQ is the ability to pick up on small cues during play that will allow players to anticipate what's going to happen next with a higher probability. This requires deep knowledge of the game and a sharp eye for detail. To have a high basketball IQ is to play the game the right way. Those with a high basketball IQ are able to see the court as if they already played the game a day before. They understand a good shot, proper defensive positioning, and the fundamentals of the game.

PASSING

The most important factor in passing is decision making. Reading the other players on the court and knowing when to pass, where to pass, and which pass variation to use in each situation is just as important as how your players pass the ball.

2 V 2, 3 V 3, GAME SITUATIONAL

It may seem simple, yet its critical to the new modern day basketball. Pick and roll that will ensure that you practice game-like shots and movements without the ball. We will make sure to emphasize proper execution on all of the pick and roll fundamentals.
